‘Sometimes There Are No Rules’, Cristina Celestini, pencil on paper.
This drawing was completed in my studio from a quick sketch of my daughter while she was contacting friends on her phone. Her enigmatic smile and confident face suggested the title: “No rules in war and love”. As well as a portrait this drawing is a study in the quality of light over skin, hair and material. I particularly enjoyed drawing the leather and fur jacket with its different and challenging textures.
This drawing is part of a series where I explore the value of light on material and shapes as well as studying the human figure and the fleeting feelings we express.
