Dawn was born and brought up in Manchester, but for the last forty years she has lived in the English Lake District. Although surrounded by beautiful scenery she chose not to do landscapes, preferring instead to concentrate on still life; bringing together everyday objects that reflect a person or a subject, with each painting having its own theme.
Dawn`s training in graphic design at Cumbria college of art and design shows through in her work which features many different forms of typographical content. She spent twelve years after leaving college working in two different printing establishments in and near Kendal; producing artwork for the famous Kendal mint cake packaging amongst other things.
She left the printing industry in 1996, and after getting married and the arrival of twins two years later her career in art took a back seat for a while.
In 2005 after a few years of trying Dawn gained membership of the Lake Artists Society. As well as exhibiting with them every summer at the hall in Grasmere, Dawn has also had work shown in many national open exhibitions in London including the Sunday Times watercolour competition and the Discerning Eye.
