My mother was an artist, and the smell of turps was always around. Not surprisingly I caught the ‘bug’ and went to Art School in 1960 – ’63, studying for an NDD. I worked at the Tate gallery in London before heading for Africa in 1969, where I lived for the next 34 years. Life drawing and creative drawing were a continuing interest . In 1995, I fell in love with paint and started exhibiting my work in Cape Town.
I returned to the UK in 2004 .
I have exhibited for several years in galleries in the South east of England and with the RI and SWA at the Mall Galleries, London amongst other venues and joined the S.G.F.A in 2012.
My paintings are built up through many layers of glazing with marks and symbols showing through the layers to express the footprints of the past . I call my style Organic expressionism
I have work in private collections in New York, Portugal, South Africa and UK.
