Artist Biography:

Education: The Convent of the Sacred Heart, Epsom. Won 13+ Junior Art Award to Epsom School of Art. Intermediate Exam. Completed studies in Design and Illustration at Wimbledon School of Art.

Work: Colourist for Baynton-Williams, Antique Print Dealers. Freelance work including illustrations, book tokens, greetings cards, catalogues and sheet music covers. 1972 - March 2007 teaching for mid-Surrey Adult Education running classes in watercolours, drawing techniques, gouache and flower painting; visiting art groups for lectures, criticisms and workshops.

Society of Graphic Fine Art: Elected to the SGFA in 1977; to their Council in 1981; Hon Secretary 1987 - 86; Vice-President 1987 - 90 and 1993 - 94; President 1994 - 99. Won many prizes at their Annual Exhibitions.

Exhibitions: At the SGFA annually since 1977; RI, RWS open, RMS & many Society Exhibition, Britain in Watercolours, Landscape Society, Chelsea Art Society, Llewellyn Alexander Gallery`s `A Million Brushstrokes` and the Medici Gallery W1; Barnstable, Bath, Bristol, Canterbury, Cambridgeshire, Edinburgh, Hemel Hempstead, Herefordshire, Norfolk, Nottingham and many local exhibitions. Invited to paint a box for the `Box Train` exhibition. Short-listed for a prize at the Art Show, Alexandra Palace 1994; runner-up in the 2001 Derwent Drawing Competition, entry then used in their 2002 catalogue.

Work featured: Work reproduced and demonstrations published in `How-to-do-it` art books for Quarto Publishing plc., `Back to Basics` demonstrations used in the Artists and Illustrators` magazine- their 1995 Watercolour Supplement; articles published on drawing, watercolours and surveys of watercolour papers, drawing papers and pencils. Regular contributor to `Painting World` 1999- 2001 with `the Drawing Class` feature and did a promotion for `Frisk`, has reviewed books for both magazines. A demonstration feature was published in a January 2005 edition of Eaglemoss` `Painting with Watercolours` magazine.

Events: Took part in an RWS Art Event Day 1988. Demonstrations [SGFA] at the Art Materials Exhibition, Business Design Centre in 1993, 1998, 2002, 2003 and 2006. Helped organise and took part in a `Big Draw` event with the SGFA in Bath, October 2003 and London,October 2008. Recently elected  a Silver Signature member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society, exhibiting in Annual Exhibitions since 2003, winning prizes in 2006 and 2007. Elected Associate Member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers, August 2008; Gold Memorial Bowl Honourable Mention, 2008 Exhibition.
