Artist Biography:

Stella Murray Whatley is a professional artist, having studied at the Harrow college of Art, Regent Street Polytechnic, and the Holborn Central School for Arts and Crafts. She spent time in Italy studying the language and Renaissance Art. She is resident in Somerset.
Artworks on a wide range of subjects have been purchased for public and private collections. Her works have been acquired by the National Museum of Wales, {paintings were purchased by the Welsh Arts Council}. The Industrial and Maritime Museum of Wales. The Lord Lieutenant of Wales. The Trustees of the Alexandra Palace Organ, and the National Library of Wales. Etchings have been commissioned by Somerset Health Care Trust and Taunton Deane Borough Council. In 2002 celebratory watercolours were commissioned by Somerset County Council. Commissions have been executed for Macmillan Cancer Relief, Marie Curie Cancer Care, and the NSPCC.
Stella is an established portrait painter. Past commissions include H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, and Sir Arthur C. Clarke. Formal portraits have been executed of The High Master of St Pauls School, London. The Headmaster of Monkton Coombe School, Bath, and the Master of the Mercers Company in the City of London.
The artist holds regular solo exhibitions, and has contributed to mixed shows across the country. Venues include The Royal Academy, The Royal West of England Academy, The South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts, Exeter, and The Mall Galleries in london
