I was born and brought up in Liverpool and this is where my passion for drawing began. I feel most relaxed when drawing, observing and recording just like a fly on the wall
For many years i concentrated on working in pen and ink and printmaking in black and white, which produces such seductive images. I have worked with most painting mediums but find that pastel allows me to draw in a way that paint cannot. During these last few years I have been drawing figures with pastel, in a variety of situations, abandoning landscapes forever.
I like to organise my work by concentrating on a particular subject; most recently this was spending time at the Circus School In Bristol. This has given me wealth of drawings, which are gradually appearing as finished pieces. Moving animated figures frequently appear in my paintings and are without doubt my favourite subject.
I studied illustration at The University of the West of England and following this taught adults while developing my own work. I now run a life drawing group and occasional workshops.
In the past few years I have exhibited at the RWA Autumn exhibition, at The Affordable Art Fairs in Bristol and London and galleries in the South West. Alternate years I open my studio for Somerset Art Works open studios.
