Artist Biography:

My interest in pursuing a career in art began when I decided to take a foundation course in art and ceramics at Coleg Harlech, North Wales in September of 2005. I had always been enthralled by the work of artists such as M C Esher. Their ability to capture intricate detail using only the tiny point of a pen or pencil filled me with admiration. Initially my attempts at drawing were pretty poor to say the least, but with practice my skills improved. My pencil drawing of the dandelion in seed, entitled `New Beginnings` marked a significant change of direction in my life. This was the initial assignment to be submitted on my arrival at Coleg Harlech.

I find drawing both absorbing and fascinating. My attempt to replicate textures such as wood, glass, stone or fabric is a challenge that I find frustrating at times but also exhilerating when achieving the desired effect. At the end of the course my work received the highest award and as a result I was given the opportunity to study Fine Art at Aberystwyth University, West Wales. By September of 2006 I was living in Aberystwyth and studying for my degree. By June 2010 I had completed my BA course in Fine Art, achieving first class honours.

Drawing is so therapeutic and has become a large part of my life. I would encourage everyone to pick up a pencil and draw. My images are representative of my journey into the art world. I hope that you enjoy them.
