"Frottage and Texture in Drawing"
Demonstration by Jo Hall SGFA AOI
Frottage involves laying a support (paper) over a textured surface and taking an impression by rubbing with crayon,graphite etc; in the same way a brass rubbing is made.This demonstration will explore how texture or tone is introduced into a drawing by frottage. You may have a chance to try the technique yourself.

Marie has a strategy that helps you learn to draw with confidence and record your individual way of seeing. Bring a pen, pencil or biro, also a small sketchbook no larger than A6 (103 x 14.9 cms); it will become your source of discovery and inspiration.

"Putty Eraser - Subtractive Effects"
Demonstration by Barry Harrison ASGFA.
Using pencil and other graphite forms as the base, the
putty eraser is used to form, or enhance the image. We examine how the
putty eraser can be used to help create impressions of various types of
texture from hair to china. Bring a small pad and pencil if you want to
join in

His main interest being architecture in landscape, Ken will stress the effects of light and shade. He has held one man
shows in the home counties and exhibited with the RWS, RI, RSMA and as a full member of the Armed Forces Art
Society; as such he has shown regularly at the Mall Galleries, London.

"Scraperboard"
Demonstration by Jean Canter. ARMS (Hon) PPSGFA UKCPS.
The subject will be a landscape drawing on black scraperboard demonstrating the varying strokes and textures possible from the different scrapernibs. Small pieces of board and some nibs will be available for anyone to try this fascinating technique.

Coloured pencils have come a long way since my childhood. The vastly improved pigments, quality and range of colours means that the humble coloured pencil has "come of age". They are fully controllable.clean and versatile, one colour layering over another to create different tones and shades. Come and try them for yourself

“Flowers in Ink”
Demonstration by Margaret Eggteton SGFA SWA SBA
Flowers from Borough Market will be used as reference to demonstrate a drawing in Quink ink with a bamboo pen.Brusho inks will then be painted on with plenty of water and dramatic results. This will be followed by a chance to have a go yourself, materials will be provided

Keeping a sketchbook to record events in your daily life will help hone your drawing skills and provide memory reminders for later paintings. We are going out to nearby Borough Market which provides good subject matter, so bring a sketchbook and pencil. We will later return to share our work experience.

"Drawing with Coloured Pencils on Black Paper
Demonstration by Harriet Brigdale ASGFA.
Coloured pencils are wonderful on white paper since you start pale and go darker; but on black paper this works in reverse, the lightest colours are applied last. Watching light gradually appear is an amazing and powerful experince. If you bring your own black paper you can have a go yourself. I will supply pencils.

“Drawing with Scissors”
Demonstration and Workshop by Christine Hopkins ASGFA.
Starting from a pencil sketch, scissors then become the drawing tool to produce a small simple landscape or townscape. Watch a demonstration of this technique and then have a go yourself to produce something to take home at the end of of the session.
